Fasting in Lent

Have you ever wondered about the spiritual discipline of fasting?  Wondered why some people eat fish on Fridays during the season of Lent?  Did you know that the first Books of Common Prayer laid out every Friday of the year as a day to fast from eating meat?

On Sunday, the Gospel story tells of a 40 day fast that Jesus engaged in at the beginning of his life in ministry.  Click below for a great article published at Episcopal Cafe about what a fast really is, and how you might try on this spiritual discipline as part of your Lenten practice.  During the season of Lent, our regular Sunday meal will be vegetarian (hearty and filling! But meatless.)
